| GDC Sidhra organizes lecture on “Prevention and Control of NCD” | | |

JAMMU, Dec 2: The NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra, under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav and the theme “Swastha Bharat” organized an awareness lecture on “Prevention and Control of Common Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD)” for the students of the college. The resource person for the workshop was Dr Farhat Un Nisa, Medical Officer, PHC Bain Bajalta. The program began with a welcome address by Dr Mehmood Ahmed, Assistant Professor in Urdu, Program Officer NSS.
The resource person apprised the students about what NCDs are, how these diseases occur and what are their different types.
The resource person also deliberated upon how technology has contributed to a sedentary modern lifestyle leading to several lifestyle disorders. She also talked about various preventive measures related to these diseases. She motivated the students to spread awareness among the community and play an active role as NSS volunteers.
The students participated in the awareness program with full enthusiasm that made the session interactive and interesting. The program was coordinated by Dr Harpreet Kour, Assistant Professor Department of Political Science and Prof Deepa Kak, Assistant Professor in the Department of Education. The proceedings of the program were carried by NSS volunteer Karsoom Akhter of BA Sem III. The program ended with a formal vote of thanks by Prof Deepa Kak. |
