ARTO conducts extensive checking on Pouni-Bhambla route

REASI, Dec 2: On the directions of DC Reasi Charandeep Singh and based on number of complaints of overcharging of fare, pressure Horns as well as overloading in Minibuses, Taxi/cabs received by ARTO Reasi, Rajesh Gupta, an extensive checking of vehicles was conducted on Pouni-Bhambla route today.
ARTO Reasi, Rajesh Gupta along with his team swung into action and conducted an extensive checking from Pouni to Bhambla route.
During the inspection, Rajesh Gupta enquired directly from passengers about the fare being charged and also held a meeting with the public and their elected representatives to sort out the issues regarding the transport in their area. He assured the public that strict action under Motor Vehicles Act shall be initiated against all violators & offenders.
During the extensive checking the team challaned 5 vehicles to the tune of Rs 30000 and for other violations compounded on spot for violations of various traffic rules.
ARTO also sensitized the drivers about Motor vehicle Act and urged upon them to follow all the traffic rules to ensure their safety as well as the safety of the others.
During checking, ARTO emphasized that traffic violation leads to road accidents killing a lot of commuters on a daily basis and added that adherence to traffic norms can avert the majority of road accidents besides making commuting hassle free.
While interacting with the drivers as well as the general public, Rajesh Gupta asked them to follow COVID SOPs issued by the Government of J&K UT from time to time.
