DB directives in PIL regarding traffic management | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 2: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) regarding better management of traffic in Jammu & Kashmir, a division bench of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court Srinagar wing comprising Chief Justice Pankaj Mithal and Justice Mohammad Akram Chowdhary, directed senior AAG to submit a short synopsis on each of the above issues as to the steps taken in respect of each one of them and whether the said issues have been resolved finally or they are under process of resolution. The DB observed that eleven issues were identified to be dealt with as are mentioned in the report of the Amicus Curiae dated 17-5-2021 and reproduced in our order dated 21-5-2021 are imposing ban on 15-25 years old vehicles, CNG installation in Srinagar and Jammu, Identifying and abolishing un-authorized auto/sumo/bus stands, inadequate space for passenger in passenger vehicles, building standing in the middle of the road left out during widening process, suggestion for experts for de-escalation of traffic in Pantha Chowk, steps taken by Srinagar Development Authority for protection of regional bus stand at Pantha Chowk, completion of road projects of keen importance, status district wise congestion, air pollution and traffic congestion and removing ditches and macadamization. The DB directed senior AAG to submit a short synopsis on each of the above issues as to the steps taken in respect of each one of them and whether the said issues have been resolved finally or they are under process of resolution before February 24, 2022.
