IT, CGST Depts organizes outreach programme at Women College | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, Dec 2: The Income Tax (IT) Department and Central GST (CGST) Department organized an “Outreach Programme & Interactive Session” at Auditorium, Degree College for Women, Kathua to reveal the suggestions, feedback opinions and aspirations of the people of Kathua from the forthcoming Union Budget. The interaction program was organized to make the public aware about the various technological and other initiatives taken by the Department to increase transparency and ease of compliance and to provide better taxpayer’s services. The outreach programme & Interactive Session was attended by representatives of the Traders & Industries Association, Vyapar Mandal, Brick Kiln Manufacturer Association Chamber of Traders Federation, Kathua, Members of NIRC of ICAI, Tax Bar Association and Assessees/DDOs and NCC cadets and students from college besides Pr Commissioner of CGST, Jammu Mahesh Kumar Rustogi, Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Jammu Rahul Padha, Deputy Commissioner of CGST, Samba Dr Sandeep Kour, Income Tax Officers MB Raizada, ITO, Kathua, PS Jamwal, ITO TDS and Namit Chaturvedi, Supdtt. CGST, Kathua and other officers from Income Tax & CGST Department at Kathua. MB Raizada, Income Tax Officer, Kathua presented the key note making the audience aware of the mandate of the interaction. Raizada intimated that the technology change and ease of business lead to the change of role of Tax Payer from Tax Enforcer to Tax Facilitator. The various facilities available in the Aayakar Sewa Kendra at Income Tax Office, Kathua were enumerated to the audience for facilitation and redressal of their grievances/issues. Mahesh Kumar Rustogi Principal Commissioner CGST Jammu welcomed all the participants on behalf of CBIC. He emphasized on the Atam Nirbhar, Make In India, Digital India and Swachhata Mission. Explaining the GST as a major reform to mitigate the cascading effects of various taxes such as state and central taxes (C. Ex. Duty, ST, VAT, Purchase Tax, Entry Tax Luxury tax etc), he gave a power point presentation on GST. Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Jammu Circle, Rahul Padha informed the audience that income tax department has not only made achievements in tax collections but also in the technological advancements made so as to increase transparency in the working and ease of compliance and resulted in better taxpayer's services.
