GDC Purmandal celebrates “National Pollution Control Day” | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 2: Government Degree College (GDC) Purmandal under the headship of Prof Shahima Akhter (Department of Environmental Sciences) carried out a plantation drive to celebrate National Pollution Control Day today. This day is celebrated to remember the people who lost their lives during 1984 Bhopal Gas Tragedy. The first sapling of the drive was planted by Prof Seema Mir (Principal, GDC Purmandal) along with the convener beautification committee Prof Shahima Akhter, Staff (Teaching/Non-Teaching) and students of the college. On the occasion, worthy Principal of the college addressed the students that controlling is the only way of preventing and creating awareness is the only way to educate the masses at large. Speaking about the significance of the day, she also urged the gathering not to use horns unnecessarily, switch off electric gadgets when not in use, stop using plastic, not dump waste in water bodies and plant more and more trees to give a pure environment to our coming generations as well.
