NOPRUF holds one day conference on awareness of pension | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 6: National Old Pension Restoration United Front Jammu & Kashmir (NOPRUF-JK) held a one day conference on the awareness of pension. The National President of NOPRUF graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The conference was organized by NOPRUF-JK under the leadership of UT President Gulzabair Daing and UT General Secretary Rajesh Kumar Sharma. Hundreds of government employees, falling under New Pension Scheme (NPS) from different government departments of Jammu and Kashmir attended the conference. It is pertinent to mention in January 2004 a new privatized pension scheme (NPS) was introduced by government in center for government employees and likewise in Jammu and Kashmir it was introduced in January 2010. "Employees are completely unhappy with NPS because it is totally not at par with OPS in terms of its benefits," claimed the NOPRUF leaders. The NOPRUF a national level organization of NPS employees under the leadership of its National President B P Singh Rawat is running a countrywide campaign for the demand of restoration of Old Pension Scheme (OPS) for the government employees in all states and UTs of the country. According to the figures claimed by NOPRUF leaders, most of those employees who are getting retirement under new pension scheme are being paid their pension in pea nuts. Some employees have claimed that their monthly pension under the new scheme of pension is just less than a thousand rupees which is a joke with them and speaks volumes about the flawed new pension scheme. |
