GDC Bhaderwah organizes mask making competition

BHADERWAH, Dec 8: The week long programme of Red Ribbon Club of GDC Bhadarwah w.e.f. 1st to 8th December 2021 concluded with the mask making competition in the college. The programme was organized in collaboration with Jammu & Kashmir AIDS Control Society, (JKACS) Department of Health & Medical Education; Govt. of J&K. The event was a Plan of Campaign @75 to celebrate the 75th year of Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav).
The event started with the formal welcome address by Dr. Sandeep Kotwal, Nodal officer of the Red Ribbon Club. He asserted that during the pandemic the preventive measure to avoid the spread of COVID-19 was wearing face mask, sanitizing hands, maintaining safe distance and getting vaccinated. He highlighted the importance of face masks to curb the spread of numerous contagious diseases. He also appreciated the participating students for actively participating in awareness generation on HIV, TB, Voluntary Blood donation and COVID-19. Principal of the college Dr. Kuldeep K Sharma, under whose guidance the programme was organized, in his interaction with the students aware them about the latest mutant of Corona-virus named Omicron and the concerns about it globally, including India. He informed them that the only way to be protected about its fast spreading tentacles world-wide is to strictly follow COVID-19 protocols. He admired the organizing team for successfully conducting the week-long programme with full dedication.
About twenty five students of the college actively participated in the programme. Danish Ikhlaq of semester 3rd adjudged as winner of the mask making competition whereas Meelan Shapoo and Vishal Bharti of 5th semester secured 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. The event organizing team comprised of Prof Davinder Kumar, Prof Prithvi Raj, Prof Sandesh Kumar and Dr. Sangeeta Devi.
