Early Times Report

JAMMU, Dec 8: This is with reference to the news item titled “Recruitment for SI posts: SSB ignores LG’s directions” published in the English daily on dated 06.12.2021. The news story published in the aforesaid local daily is not only factually incorrect, but misleading and undoubtedly motivated. A cursory perusal of the contents of the said news item make two things evidently clear: i) Lack of understanding about functioning of the Government; b) a deliberate attempt to spread misinformation with the aim of misleading the public and maligning the image of the JKSSB.
However, all these mischievous attempts to deflect/ divert attention from the tireless efforts of the JKSSB to provide employment to deserving and meritorious candidates in a time bound and transparent manner, or create false narratives based on inadequate knowledge, won’t find favour with public in general and aspirants in particular.
It is clarified that recruiting agencies, including JKSSB, do not have any role in prescribing eligibility conditions including ‘age’ for any post which is referred to it by any Indenting Department. It is the prerogative of the concerned Indenting Department which notifies Recruitment Rules for any post and furnishes an indent to the recruiting agencies in accordance with those recruitment rules. The recruiting agencies advertise the posts in accordance with the Recruitment Rules/Indent for recruiting the requisite manpower.
Pertinently, the JKSSB upon receipt of indent from the Home department vide No. Home /PB-III/ 34 /2021 dated 02.07.2021, followed by amendments notified vide SO notification No. 214 dated 01.07.2021 in the Jammu and Kashmir Police Recruitment Rules, 1960; and J&K Ex-Servicemen (Re-employment in Public Services and Posts) Rule, 2021 notified vide SO notification No. 361 dated: 20.10.2021, advertised 800 posts of Sub Inspectors in Jammu and Kashmir Police, vide advertisement Notification No. 06 of 2021 dated 21.10.2021. Subsequently, in pursuance of the communication dated: 23.11.2021 received from the Home Department, the JKSSB vide Notification dated SSB/Secy/2021/7926-42 dated 24.11.2021, increased the number of posts for Sub Inspectors in Jammu and Kashmir Police from 800 to 1200. In so far as proposal relating to relaxation of upper age limit (from 28 years to 30 years) is concerned, the same is under process in the Home Department and as and when the notification is issued by the said Department, the JKSSB shall take consequential action as may be required like it was done in case of increase in the number of posts, on prompt basis. It is important to note that recruitment process is governed by statutory provisions and its each step is scrutinized both by general public as well as Hon’ble courts. Further, it would be proper for the aforesaid newspaper to advise its reporters to desist from doing factually incorrect and misleading stories with malafide intentions, being a responsible media organization, given that such instances of carrying false and motivated stories against JKSSB by the said newspaper, have come to notice in the past as well.
