Srinagar, Dec 9: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Thursday said the administration must allow devotees to observe prayers in historic Jamia Mosque in down town Srinagar. “To halt the prayers at the historical Jamia Mosque remains unjustified and the administration must allow devotees to observe prayers in its premises without any further delay”, Bukhari said this while addressing the workers convention at Zadibal in down town Srinagar. “Holding obligatory prayers is the religious right of every citizen and the administration in coordination with the management of Jamia mosque and local inhabitants must ensure that people observe prayers without any impediments besides maintaining a vigil check on law and order situation as well,” he said. Jamia Auqaf Committee recently alleged that authorities are not allowing devotees to offer Friday prayers in theJamia Masjid for the past several months citing law and order problem, Bukhari expressed that his Party is committed to restore the pristine glory of Shahri Khas which has been acutely neglected and ignored by the successive governments with regards to the essential infrastructural development. He also urged the administration along with the Department of Handicrafts to announce a one-time loan waiver for Artisans keeping in view the prevailing economic situation. “These artisans are economically broken where they cannot even feed their families now. The government must take a humane consideration over this matter and waive off the Artisan loans on a compassionate basis. They should also be provided with further economic aid so that they can start afresh and buy required raw materials,” he added.
