BJYM pays tributes to CDS Gen Bipin Rawat | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 9: Likewise in other parts of the country, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), the youth wing of the ruling BJP, today paid tributes to CDS General Bipan Rawat, who lost his life in a tragic helicopter accident yesterday along with other 14 soldiers and crew by holding a candle march at Paloura area of the city, here. The candle march was led by state secretary BJYM, Rajat Singh Manhas and joined by other leaders of the Morcha along with locals. "A warrior of the mighty Indian Army died in a tragic helicopter accident along with wife Madhulika Rawat. There were 14 soldiers and crew on the flight. I, on behalf of the J&K youth, salute all of them as they died serving our Nation. Today's candle march was organised to show our sympathies with the family members of those lost their precious lives," said Rajat Singh Manhas. General Rawat was serving as the first and current Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS). He came from a family of soldiers who had defended this country and was commissioned into the 5th Battalion of 11 Gorkha Rifles on December 16 1978. His father Laxman Singh Rawat rose to the rank of Lt. General. "I salute General Rawat for his stand against enemies of the Nation and his efforts for unity of Army, Air Force and Navy into a mighty force is a world known and recognised fact. The tragic incident has left one and all in a state of shock and we pray the Almighty God to rest the soul in peace," further said Rajat. Among others who joined the tributes paying candle march included Happy Jamwal, Dushyant Singh, Digvijay Singh, Rohit Chib, Daljeet and Subash Sharma. |
