Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 9: A protest was held by the Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) at Jagti Township near Nagrota today under the chairmanship of JTC & SKF president, Shadi Lal Pandita. Addressing the protesters, Shadi Lal Pandita said that Bharatiya Janata Party government has failed to solve the problems of Kashmiri Pandits, adding that we have been protesting for the relief of Kashmiri migrant relief holders which is preventing from surviving in this era of inflation. He appealed the Government to increase the monthly cash relief of relief holders from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 per family per month immediately. He also demanded package of 20,000 jobs for unemployed youth of Kashmiri migrants and one job to each family which has no serving Government employee. He further demanded three satellite townships be built in Kashmir Valley near Baramulla, Srinagar and Anantnag for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits. Besides, compensation of 32 years property loss and balanced /pending ex-gratia of gutted houses, looted and damaged, properties be released in favour of affected families. He also demanded compensation for over aged youth, removal of encroachments from migrants, properties and religious places as well as grant of political and minority status to Kashmiri Pandits. Others who participated in the protest sit-in included Vijay Bakshi, Charanjeet Singh, Rakesh Ambardar, Shuban Raina, Rakesh Tickoo, GM Khan, Mithan Pandita, Satish Pandita, Vinod Bhat, Raj Kumar Bhat, Surinder Zutshi, Om Prakash Mahajan, Gurmeet Singh, Ramesh Suri, ON Raina, Jaswant Singh and Ab Rahman Dar. |
