JAMMU, Dec 17: State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO) J&K, in collaboration with the Red Cross Unit of Government P G College for Women, Gandhi Nagar Jammu organized an human organ donation awareness cum organ pledging campaign today. More than 50 participants, including teaching staff and students pledged for organ donation.
The chief patron of the programme was Dr. Sangita Nagari, Principal of the college. She motivated the students to serve humanity by donating organs. Dr Sanjeev Puri, Joint Director, SOTTO J&K, through his presentation made the students aware regarding deceased organ donation.
Dr. Revika Arora, Assistant Professor, Chemistry and Nodal Officer Red Cross unit of the college said that voluntary organ donation is the only way to meet the huge demand of organs. Irfan Ahmed Lone, Transplant Coordinator, SOTTO J&K described the National Organ Transplant Program (NOTP) being run in Super Specialty Hospital, Government Medical College Jammu. |
