| GDC Jindrah wins 13 medals in inter-collegiate sports event | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 17: Government Degree College (GDC) Jindrah won 13 medals including 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 6 Bronze medals in the recently held inter-collegiate sports event.
College felicitated the medal winners of first phase of Intercollegiate sports Competition 2021-22 organized by Jammu University. An impressive function was organized in the College premises, here. The students of GDC Jindrah won 13 medals in boxing, wrestling and judo competitions.
It is pertinent to mention that the performance of GDC Jindrah is excellent in intercollegiate competitions despite there is no sports ground available in Jindrah. The college remained in top 3 position out of all affiliated colleges to University of Jammu in boxing and wrestling championships. Students medal ratio is also higher than other colleges.
College Principal, Prof Raj Shree Dhar appreciated and motivated the students for commendable performance and boosted their morale for upcoming events.The convener of sports committee, Prof Ashok Kumar and Physical Director, Dr. Vikesh Kumar Sharma also congratulated the winners. Dr Vikesh who himself was best athlete of Jammu University said that scientific talent identification, training and proper diet is key to success in competitive sports. There is need to develop sports culture in schools, colleges and universities. All educational institutions are required to work in coordinated manner.
The other dignitaries on the occasion were, Prof Paramjit Singh, Prof Rajiv Katoch, Prof Poonam Rainu and Dr Sunil Dutt Sharma. |
