GDC Darhal organizes poster making competition on "Energy Conservation"

RAJOURI, Dec 22: A poster making competition on the theme "Energy Conservation" was organized by NSS Unit of Govt Degree College (GDC) Darhal in which NSS volunteers prepared posters related with motivational ideas for Energy Conservation. Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the College Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia appreciated the volunteers for displaying very effective ideas for Energy Conservation. He said that the need of the hour is to conserve energy as the day is not far off when the world will deplete its natural resources. He talked about various energy saving techniques like using LED light bulbs which are about six times more efficient and generally last much longer than CFL Bulbs, turning off lights during the day and use daylight as much as possible, prefer to buy Energy-efficient appliances with Energy Star rating as they consume less energy.
Senior Faculty Member, Dr. Ahsan Ul Rehman Rizvi appreciated the efforts of the students for preparing posters on the theme "Energy Conservation". He said that installing rooftop solar panels is a better option. Dr. Ather Aziz Raina NSS Programme Officer of the college told that the Poster Making Competition was a part of the series of programs to be organized during the 7-day long NSS Special Camp. He also told that 100 NSS volunteers are taking part in the NSS Special camp. Mahrul Nisa Choudhary, Sayed Aqsa and Nabia Iram were adjudged first, second and third respectively. Sadia Iram, Hashim Malik and Nazia Tabasum got consolation prizes. Prof. Tahir Mahmood, Dr. Riaz, Dr. Mukhtiar, Mahwish, Dr. Javed Ahmed Mir, Farzana and Monika were the jury members. Others present on the occasion were Abdul Qayoom, Safeer, Avez, Saddam and Zameel. The programme was attended by a large number of NSS volunteers of the college.
