Govt PG College Rajouri organizes webinar on "Biotechnology"

RAJOURI, Dec 22: The Department of Biotechnology Govt PG College Rajouri organized a webinar/seminar on "Biotechnology: Brief History and Modern Relevance" under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav here today.
Prof (Dr) Shakeel Ahmed Raina, Principal Govt PG College Rajouri presided over the hybrid mode programme. Dr Raja Amir Hassan, Assistant Professor in Dept of Biotechnology, BGSB University, who is one of the principal investigators of "mission programme on rare genetic disorder" was the resource person.
Dr Raja Amir Hassan delivered talk on Brief History and Modern Relevance of Biotechnology. He laid emphasis on need of interdisciplinary approach in current era for betterment of society. Dr. Raja inspired the students by highlighting the scope, importance and job opportunities for qualified students in biotechnology.
Prof (Dr) Shakeel Ahmed Raina in his presidential address lauded the extra ordinary efforts of Department of Biotechnology to educate the masses about the importance of Biotechnology in the life of mankind. Prof Bashir Ahmed, Prof Zamir Ahmed Mirza, Prof Anwar Shah and Prof Saleem Wani speaking on the occasion appreciated the efforts of Department of Biotechnology for organizing such programme.
Earlier, Prof Azhar Javed Head, Department of Biotechnology and Organizing Secretary of Webinar/seminar presented the formal welcome address and introduced the audience about the programme and resource person. Prof Asif Ajaz Lone and Prof Amjid Khan Bhatti participated in the programme and also provided technical support to make this event successful.
More than 30 posters were presented by the participants and best three posters were awarded. The first and second prize was given to Bahar Sharma and Mansi Chandan of B. Sc sem 3rd where as Mehreen Sambyal from B. Sc sem-1 got third prize.
