| GDC Banihal observes National Mathematics Day | | |

BANIHAL, Dec 22: Department Of Mathematics, Government Degree College (GDC) Banihal observed National Mathematics Day-2021 today under the overall supervision of Principal Dr Manohar Lal. The Principal stressed upon the importance of Mathematics in everyday life. The expert speaker of the event was Prof. Ram Parkash, Head Department of Mathematics of the college. The speaker described in detail the biography of Srinavasa Ramanujam, on whose birth anniversary the National Mathematics Day is celebrated across the Country. He extensively mentioned about his large number of theorems acknowledged worldwide. Despite his poor economic background and low schooling, he managed to bring into the light the new theorems including number theory, advanced trigonometry, mock theta function and so on. The speaker spoke about Ramanujam to be source of inspiration for aspiring mathematicians. Few students also delivered speeches on the occasion. The programme was coordinated with the help of Prof. Ajay Kumar (HOD Sociology).The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Deepak Kumar, PTI of the College. All the faculty members were present during the event. |
