Vocational trainings on processing of farm produce concludes at SKUAST-Jammu | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Dec 22: The valedictory function of two 10 days’ workshops on “Processing and value addition of fruits, vegetables and cereals” under AICRP on PHET Scheme of SKUAST-Kashmir was organized at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jammu. The function was presided over by Prof. J P Sharma, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu and Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir. Two programmes of 10 days duration were organized, one each at Jammu and Samba district by Division Food Science and Technology, SKUAST-Kashmir in collaboration with Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Jammu. Prof. Sharma expressed his satisfaction over the collaborative programmes organized for farm women and formation of self help group by the participants. Emphasizing upon the need for making self-reliant farm women, he advised to work in collaboration with farm Universities. He focused on motivating the farm women and wished that more number of SHGs will come up in near future. He suggested that such efforts of farm women will help in surplus management and promotion of value added products for enhancing livelihood opportunities. Prof. Ganai, expressed his gratitude towards Prof. Sharma for organizing a collaborative programme after the visionary MoU signed between SKUAST-Jammu and SKUAST-Kashmir. Prof Nazeer mentioned it as a moment of pride, as both the universities have come closer and shall organize more number of such collaborative programmes for uplifting the socio-economic status of farmers in Jammu & Kashmir. |
