GDC Jindrah celebrates Dogri Manyata Divas, National Mathematics Day

JAMMU, Dec 22: Government Degree College (GDC), Jindrah celebrated Dogri Manyata Divas and National Mathematics Day by organizing a workshop for school teachers of Jindrah on the topic "Teaching and Learning of Maths in Dogri language" under the banner National Education Policy (NEP)-2020 in view to promote regional languages.
Padma Shree Prof Shiv Dutt Nirmohi was the chief guest, who was felicitated and honored for his valuable services and contributions towards Dogri language and culture. He spoke on the occasion about the importance of Dogri language and its cultural history.
Prof Rajshree Dhar, Principal of the college, in her welcome address exhorted the importance of teaching and learning the mathematics in Dogri language. She also stressed upon developing understanding of maths to avoid math phobia among students.
Dr. Sunil Dutt Sharma in his key note address spoke about the rise of Dogri language after its inclusion in 8th schedule.
The teachers viz Sanjay Gupta of Govt Middle School also spoke on the topic 'How to Teach Mathematics by using Mother tongue Dogri'. The students viz Ritika Jamwal, Sparsh Sharma of National High School, Jindrah also recites self authored poem in Dogri language.
Anil, Priya, Eishika,, Jungbahadur, Pallavi, Saakshi, Surbhi and others from GDC Jindrah also participated in kavi ghoshthi and other cultural activities.
The program was organized with the cooperation of all the staff under the guidance of the Principal of the College. Dr Seema, Librarian, GDC Jindrah presented vote of thanks and also compiled & reported the event. Every one present in the program was cherished to interact with Padma awardee Shiv Dutt Nirmohi and gave a patient hearing to the thoughts presented by him.
