Krishi Vigyan Kendra organizes Live Telecast Show on PM-KISAN

JAMMU, Jan 1: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies Jammu (SKUAST-J) organised awareness programme and live telecasting programme of Prime Minister of India, Narender Modi Ji on Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme here today at KVK, Reasi campus by following all the SOPs of COVID-19 pandemic. The programme was enthuastically attended by a large number of farmers of the area. The programme was organized under the dynamic stewardship of Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, Prof.JP Sharma and guidance of Director Extension, Prof.SK Gupta of SKUAST-J. Before initiation of the programme, Scientist and Head of KVK, Reasi, Dr.Banarsi Lal briefed the objective of the programme and elaborated the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Scheme. He said that under PM-KISAN scheme Rs.6000 is given to the farmers in three installments so that they can purchase quality seeds, fertilizers and other agro- inputs to increase their crop production. He urged farmers to view the live telecast show on PM-KISAN so that they can get more information about the flagship scheme of India. During the programme Hon'ble Prime Minister appreciated the strenuous efforts of the farmers for their remarkable achievements in agriculture and allied sectors and interacted with the Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs) beneficiaries via video conferencing. He stressed on natural farming, Atam Nirbar Bharat Campaign and Farmers Producer Organizations (FPOs). Dr.Banarsi educated the farmers on other agril. schemes and gave a detail view on scientific agriculture in Rabi season. He also discussed on Atam Nirbar Krishi and stressed on organic farming. Dr.Suja Nabi Qureshi, Scientist spoke on commercial organic horticulture for doubling the farmers' income and guided farmers on orchard management practices for more profits. Dr.Lalit Upadhyay, Scientist guided farmers on commercial agroforestry. He also spoke on monkeys menace management. Sunil Kumar, Agril. Extension Officer spoke on various schemes in horticultural sector. Dr.Arvinder Kumar and Dr.Langzung Stanzen also spoke during the programme. An exhibition was also arranged for the farmers to demonstrate the innovative technologies to the farmers. Farmers also visited the technological units of KVK, Reasi and were highly impressed by observing the technologies demonstrated by KVK, Reasi. Farmers keenly listened the Hon'ble PM, Narender Modi and thanked him for their financial support even during the COVID-19 period. The farmers were very happy after listening the encouraging words from the Hon'ble Prime Minister. During the programme the Sarpanch of the area, Sh.Sukhdev Singh, Naib Sarpanch, Sh.Kamal Singh and Panch, Sh.Girdhari Lal were also present during the programme. The programme was assisted by Manohar Lal, Mohd. Iqbal and concluded by Dr.Suja Nabi Qureshi with formal vote of thanks.
