Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 1: UT President of JK Teachers Association (JKTA) Bhupinder Singh appealed to the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to restore the Old Pension Scheme so that in old age the teachers and employees can take care of their families in a good manner. Bhupinder Singh said that ever since the country became independent, teachers and employees were being given full benefits of old pension, but on January 1, 2010, the then government of Jammu and Kashmir took away the old pension from the teachers and employees. They were put in the new pension, which does not benefit the teachers and employees, while the surprising thing is that on January 1, 2010, the old pension for teachers and employees was stopped in Jammu and Kashmir but MPs and MLAs are Still getting the benefit of the Old Pension Scheme. Singh said that the old pension has been discontinued for the employees who have worked for 40 years, but the benefit of old pension is still being given to those MLAs and MPs after becoming a member of the Legislative Assembly or Lok Sabha only once. Appealing to the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, he said that the old pension should be restored soon in the interest of the employees. Singh further said that if the government does not restore the old pension soon, then in the coming days teachers and employees can also be seen in the streets demanding restoration of the Old Pension Scheme. |
