Shiv Sena expresses grief over tragic deaths at Mata Vaishno Devi | Demands for widening of corridor, installing dividers | | Early Times Report KATRA, Jan 1: The leaders of Shiv Sena Jammu and Kashmir unit have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of 12 devotees in the stampede at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Bhawan. Under the leadership of party state president Manish Sahni, party leaders reached Katra and went to Narayana Hospital. In a statement issued to media here today, Manish Sahni has expressed condolence to the families of the deceased who lost their lives in this tragic accident. Sahni said that Shiv Sainiks across the nation including the party high command are deeply shocked by the loss of lives due to the stampede in the Shrine complex and wish speedy recovery of the injured devotees. He said that Shiv Sena leaders along with Shiv Sainiks reached the spot early morning and provided all possible help to the devotees. Sahni said that the pilgrims who returned from the Bhawan stated that due to the huge crowd close to the Bhawan and in absence of any divider in the middle, the devotees became victims of the tragic accident. He demanded the immediate widening of the corridor at the Bhawan. He also castigated the Shrine Board for the lack of proper arrangements keeping in view the devotees' heavy rush on New Year. At the same time, the security personnel were also not in sufficient numbers to control the crowd. Prominent among others present on this occasion were Vice President Balwant Singh, Katra Unit President Vikas Abrol, Prince Sharma, Abhishek Kumar and Arun Sharma besides a large number of Shiv Sainiks. |
