Jammu facing worst kind of power crises in harsh winter season: Manjit Singh | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 3: Apni Party Provincial President Jammu Manjit Singh has alleged that Jammu is facing the worst kind of power crises in the ongoing winter season with continuous unscheduled power cuts. He questioned the inability of the Power Development Department to ensure round the clock electricity to the people in Jammu region. "They are charging huge bills to the people and the poor are made to suffer in the winter season. The ineffectiveness of the PDD officials and field staff can be gauged from the fact that they roam in the streets and disconnect connections but the department has completely collapsed in providing electricity," said Manjit. He was addressing a monthly provincial review meeting of Apni Party leaders at Gandhi Nagar Office, Jammu. He said that the people are suffering and the employees of the department are also facing an uncertain future. "This is happening because there is no elected government and no one is listening to the people in general," he said and demanded that elections must be held as early as possible in J&K to restore the lost confidence of the people. Manjit said that the Party has time and again raised issues being faced by the people but the authorities seem unmoved. "The public grievance system has failed to address the issues of the people. At present, Jammu is facing the worst kind of unscheduled power cuts in the harsh winter season," he added.
