Haryana welcomes constructive criticism but in J&K Babus gag media for writing truth | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 3: Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya on Sunday called upon journalists to work fearlessly and with complete independence, saying only then governments will be able to run in a better manner. Comparing Harayana’s situation in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir the arrogant Babus here gagged media for writing the truth in the newspapers. Instead of accepting constructive criticism from the media, the Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to rather dubbed all newspapers as “bad-press” who dared to highlight peoples’ problems and woes. The democratically elected governments in other parts of the country mostly welcome constructive criticism because such criticism would provide the opportunity to deliver good governance to the people. In J&K the bureaucratic rule is neither accountable nor answerable to anybody so Babus here never digest constructive criticism. During his first interaction with media persons at Jammu, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had announced that he will wholeheartedly welcome constructive criticism to deliver good governance to the people. But after some time, a coterie of Babus started abusing state apparatus to stifle the voice of media for writing the truth. This coterie of Babus is misleading Lieutenant Governor about constructive criticism of media. Writing the truth is a big crime in Jammu and Kashmir because the same coterie of Babus is working with a dictatorial mindset. Harayana Governor on Sunday said that the journalists should work fearlessly and with complete independence, only then governments will be able to function in a better manner. Journalists will have to set an example for coming generations while keeping in mind the priority of the nation and society. |
