NC leader alleges harassment to tribals in land allotment under FRA | | | Early Times Report RAJOURI, Jan 3: Thakur Yashu Vardhan Singh, National Conference Zonal Secretary, Peer Panjal Zone and in-charge District Rajouri has alleged that the government is harassing the tribal people as and when they approached for allotment of government land to them under the Forest Rights Act (FRA). Addressing a meeting in Andh, Badanoo and Dharamsal (Changrali) of Block Siot here today, the NC leader said that earlier the government allotted forest land to tribals on the recommendations of PRI members including DDC, BDC, Panch, Sarpanch, Lambardar but now the concerned authority has issued an order by amending the aforesaid procedure and as per the new order, the authorities in the administration are asking the intending beneficiaries under the Forest Act to first bring signatures of about 50 per cent population of the concerned area. Singh appealed to LG and Deputy Commissioner Rajouri to amend the order adhering to the earlier procedure of allotting land to Tribals on the recommendations of PRIs members. He said that the government should adopt a people friendly approach in implementing various laws or schemes especially the Forest Rights Act as that alone will go a long way in ensuring that all the tribals get the land allotted in their names without any hassle or obstruction. |
