GDC Bishnah holds lecture on Solid Waste Management | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 3: The NSS unit of GDC Bishnah, as part of Clean India Programme under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsava, organized a lecture on the Solid Waste Management. On the occasion, Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the college delivered a lecture on the solid waste management and practically demonstrated to the NSS volunteers as how to convert the wet waste generated in the home into organic compost. She informed the NSS volunteers that there is nothing called waste as waste is created by us by mixing the wet and dry waste generated in our homes. She explained to the volunteers the importance of segregation of waste at source and convert them into useful things. Then she practically demonstrated to the students regarding complete process of the conversion of wet waste into compost also known as black gold in the newly dug Compost Pit by the NSS volunteers. The volunteers used the small twigs, dry grass, leaves, manure, fruits and vegetable peels, dry soil and some water to form different layers in the compost pit for the conversion of these things into compo. The NSS volunteers learned the entire process with great eagerness and attention. In the end, Prof Amit Kumar Sharma thanked Dr Anuradha Pandoh for her enriching lecture on the Solid Waste Management. |
