Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 14: NAHEP-IDP SKUAST-Jammu, under the guidance of Prof. J.P Sharma, Vice Chancellor, organized online guest lecture for the students and faculty members on Nanotechnology Applications in Agricultural Pest Management. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Deepa Bhagat, Principal Scientist, Organic Chemistry, ICAR-National Bureau of Agricultural Insect Resources, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Dr. Bhagat talked about her innovations on delivery of pheromones and fertilizers using nanogels and commercial potential of these technologies. She also discussed about different types of sensors such as Pheromone Nano-sensors, Urea Sensor, Pesticide Sensor, Oxalate Sensor and Virus Sensor which can be very handy tools in precision agriculture. Dr. Bhagat in her talk made reference to different chemical processes involved in development of nanogels/nanosensors and patents granted. After the lecture there was a healthy discussion and both students and faculty members interacted with the esteemed speaker. The lecture was attended by more than 100 participants comprising of students and faculty members. Earlier, Prof. B.C Sharma, PI of IDP-NAHEP & HoD, Agronomy gave an overview of the NAHEP-IDP project and welcomed the esteemed speaker and participants. Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Prof. Sanjay Guleria, HoD, Biochemistry and Associated Scientist NAHEP-IDP. Prof. Vikas Sharma, Co-PI, IDP-NAHEP & HoD Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry offered formal vote of thanks. |
