NNK stages play ‘Ghalib at Quarantine’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Jan 17: Natraj Natya Kunj (NNK) Jammu today performed play ‘Ghalib at Quarantine’ at NNK Studio Bakshi Nagar Jammu. Written and directed by young director Roheet Verma, the play “Ghalib at Quarantine” revolves around the character, who got stuck at some place amid Covid crisis and sudden lockdown. Being got stuck for long time he relates himself to the Mirza Ghalib, who got stuck in a similar way in 1857. He enacts his poetries, his letters and his life to pass his time. The play shares some interesting facts about Ghalib, and his attachment to Delhi. At one place, as Mirza’s wife is persuading him to leave Delhi and return to Agra as she believes he won’t be able to survive peacefully in the capital. The play was designed in such a way that it depicts the era of Mirza Ghalib. Character of Mirza Ghalib was wonderfully enacted by energetic actor Balwinder Singh. Music was up to the mark as director tried his level best to recreate the poetry of Mirza Ghalib to give it a contemporary feel at the same time keeping intact the old era. Set of the play was designed by Meenakshi Thakur. Costumes were designed by Anu Thakur while production was managed by Garima Chopra & Kiran Salaria, Lights designed and executed by Shazi Khan and Aaditya Bharti. Singers included Aayush Trakroo and Shobhna Kharma, Rhythmist Nitish Kumar. Music was composed, written and directed by Roheet Verma. |
