Sign Boards Not Enough
1/19/2022 11:32:19 PM

The non-existent amusement park at Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu is yet another glaring instance of official apathy.
The sign board is the only sign about the park being there, while as in reality there is no amusement park. A cafeteria building and a few chairs are the only signs of the park, which was supposed to come up at Bhagwati Nagar. Is this the development which the government is talking about?
The helmsmen leave no opportunity to claim that Jammu is being turned into a Smart City but these assertions are confined to papers only. The development projects have taken off only on the papers while on ground still a lot needs to be done.
There are many projects that were sanctioned for Jammu city but the sanction has remained confined to official files only. The claims of the Tourism Department that it has gone out of way to promote Jammu as a favourite tourist destination are proving to be a hoax. Except for creating noise the department has not done anything.
The tirath sthans like Puramandal have been ignored. These sites are lying in shambles despite the government making big announcements to develop a religious tourism circuit in Jammu. If one goes through the report card of the Tourism and other departments it has nothing to show.
After J&K was reorganized on August 5, 2019, people of Jammu had welcomed the decision and were hoping that things would change for the good. But their hopes have been dashed as the arbitrary decisions taken by the present regime have hit them hard. People were shown the dreams of development and new projects but the fact is that none of these dreams have been turned into a reality. There are many areas still within the Jammu city that are awaiting proper roads, drains and other basic amenities. People are asking what Jammu has got after August 5, 2019. They are looking towards the Centre and are hoping that the promises that were made to them will be fulfilled. They are losing patience and are hoping that the New Delhi would intervene and would ask the helmsmen to take people of Jammu on board as it’s their land and they are the natives and they cannot be ignored. The projects that have been announced need to be built as sign boards are not enough.
