CITU holds protest to express solidarity with DDC Chairman Kishtwar | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 8: A day long protest was organized today at Press Club Jammu by the State Committee of CITU to express solidarity and support with the ongoing agitation under the leadership of Puja Thakur DDC Chairperson of Kishatwar District. The protesters urged the UT government to accede to all demands like 80% employment to local youths preferably land oustees, adequate compensation and rehabilitation of displaced people due to construction of projects of hydro powers and appointment of C&D class category of workers in CVPPP Ltd as per agreement. While addressing workers, Om Parkash General Secretary JKCITU, expressed serious concern over the negative attitude of administration and condemned it for not negotiating with the leaders of agitating people. He said that their demands to give preference in employment to land ostees, adequate compensation and rehabilitation of displaced people in the ongoing construction projects of hydro power & recruitment of C&D category of workers in CVPPP Ltd as per agreement are genuine. He said that government must give employment to 80% local youths as per MOU signed between Government of Jammu and Kashmir and Executing Agencies. He said that even after a lapse of 22 days long dharna the government has not so far been negotiate with the concerned. He also appealed to civil society and trade unions irrespective of their affiliations to raise their voice in support of the agitating people and resolution of genuine demands. Others who spoke on this occasion included Muzafer Wani, Vice president, Jia Lal Parihar Secretary, Jagdish Sharma Secretary of State CITU and Nisat Kazi. |
