After 21 days DDC Chairperson lifts dharna as government concedes demands | | | ASIF IQBAL NAIK Early Times Report KISHTWAR, Feb 8: In a major success to agitating DDC Chairperson Pooja Thakur and others who were demanding jobs for local unemployed youths and proper rehabilitation of the project affected families, the government finally surrendered and agreed upon all the demands in writing. As per the details available with Early Times, DDC Chairperson Kishtwar who was sitting on dharna since last 21 days along with DDC members, PRIs besides also joined by leaders of various political parties, social activists, human rights activists and prominent citizens during all these days has called off the dharna after government through district administration Kishtwar accepted all demands either in writing or raised during the meeting with Divisional Commissioner Jammu was conceded by the administration with the assurance that they will fulfil all the demands. The DDC chairperson and all those who were sitting in this dharna with her ended the strike today as the DC Kishtwar reached out to them informing them about the acceptance of all the demands. DC Kishtwar Ashok Sharma along with ACR Kishtwar Akther Qazi and other officers themselves reached the dharna site today and met the DDC chairperson and all the members who were sitting with him on the dharna and assured them that whatever their demands would be fulfilled. The demands also include proper rehabilitation of project affected families, comprehensive job policy to be framed for the unemployed youths in power projects beside also assurances were made with regard to identification of skill development training courses required by the project management. Speaking to Early Times, DDC Chairperson confirmed that the dharna has been called off as of now added that any betrayal by the government or the project management will led to another round of the strike. She said that they will explore the written agreement with project management so that it will make the project management accountable. |
