Political parties leaders from Nagrota reject Delimitation panel's draft | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 8: Leaders of various political parties from Nagrota in a joint press conference held here on Tuesday, in one voice strongly rejected the draft proposal of the Delimitation Commission which has suggested the creation of new constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir without taking the people of the area in confidence. "The norms, criteria and ground realities besides aspirations of the people seem to have been ignored in the delimitation draft," Basher Ahmad Kohli, JCB, Tractor and Dumper Union President Nagrota said in a press conference. He added "We are surprised over the kind of divisions, clubbing of certain areas ignoring the ground realities and worst inconvenience in most areas. This is certainly not as per the needs, wishes and aspirations of people." He said that the report seems to be framed behind closed doors without thinking about the hilly and plain terrains, aspirations of people and communities. He said that people of Nagrota constituency always forefront for maintaining communal harmony and brotherhood but the Delimitation Commission ignores them. He said in dimidiation reports, the name of Gandhi Nagar constituency, which was built on the name of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi and one of the major constituencies of Jammu division, removed which was not adjustable by the people. Similarly, he said Sidhra and Majalta area of Nagrota constituency are clubbed with Jammu. "The Rajouri and Poonch assembly seats from the Jammu region are to be included in the Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency without taking into the confidence of people of the areas," he said. He said that at some places, old constituencies have been removed and new added and there is total discrimination in the new seat sharing proposed by the delimitation panel, which are unjustified and unacceptable to people. |
