In a statement issued to media here today, the senior BJP leader said that the Delimitation Commission done full justice with the people of Jammu region in the draft proposal that has come to fore recently. Accusing the earlier successive regimes of NC, Congress and PDP having resorted to blatant discrimination, atrocities against the people of Jammu region, he said that the justice of carving out constituencies should have been done much before but due to the Kashmir centric regimes this did not see the light of the day then. The senior BJP leader said that the Delimitation deserves full kudos for proposing six new assembly constituencies in the Jammu region and one for Kashmir while reserving 16 seats for Scheduled Castes and Schedules Tribes which include nine seats proposed for STs and seven for SCs in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time. He said that such redrawing of constituencies has been done to do justice with the region and some communities that had not been getting their due in the past including the aforesaid groups. The former MLA said that the abrogation of Article 370 and thereby dividing the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories laid the foundation for the process to end over seven decades of discrimination against Jammu region and its people. He reiterated that BJP stands fully committed to do justice with the people of Jammu and shall continue to move ahead with its agenda of equitable development of both the regions of Union Territory. |
