Jammu, Feb 10: Power Department installing smart meters in Jammu city has triggered resentment among the people.
A team of Power Department which reached Gujjar Nagar to install smart meters faced stiff resistance.
“You people don’t provide us with electricity, nor have you been able to repair the dangling wires,” people told the officials. An observer said, “Instead of installing smart meters, the Power Department should focus on repairing the existing infrastructure.”
After the Gujjar Nagar residents didn’t allow the PDD employees to install the smart meters, the employees filed a police complaint following which the residents relented.
“Let them do whatever they want to,” the residents said. |
