GDC Vijaypur holds workshop on writing skills, spoken English | | | Early Times Report VIJAYPUR, Feb 10: With the aim to make students aware about the effective writing and speaking, the National Social Service (NSS) Unit (KHIDMAT) of Government Degree College (GDC) Vijaypur today organized a day long workshop on the topic "Writing Skills and Spoken English" in the college premises here. The workshop commenced with the welcome address by Dr Shittal Sharma, Head of Department (HoD), Mathematics, who introduced the guest speaker and threw light on the aims of the workshop. Senior journalist Vikas Sharma, who is also Managing Director of Institute of Mass Communication and Skill Development (IMCSD) was the resource person of the workshop. During the workshop, Vikas Sharma said writing was an extremely complex cognitive activity in which the writer is required to demonstrate control of variables simultaneously. The whole event was conducted under the guidance of Dr Sangeeta Sudan, Principal of the College. During her address, she apprised the students that writing was meant for conveying thoughts, ideas and facts in easy and lucid language. "All of us have to learn the art of good writing which is essential in order to excel at both academic and professional levels," she said. GDC Vijaypur Principal further added that good writing skills were needed for all the students in order to accomplish their educational and employable requirements. The event was coordinated by Dr Sunil Kumar Mangoch, NSS Programme Officer and the formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr Naseem Choudhary, HoD English. Later, certificates of participation were also awarded to all the participants. |
