Early Times Report SAMBA, Feb 10: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Samba in collaboration with PRSS Samba celebrated World Pulses Day with theme "Atmanirbhar Bharat- Harnessing potential pulses for import substitution" at KVK Samba under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technologies-Jammu (SKUAST-J) in which more than sixty farmers along with farm women participated actively. The programme was organized under the guidance of Directorate of Extension, SKUAST Jammu. Dr. Bikram Singh Dean FoA Chatha, was the chief guest of the programme. The programme was also attended by Dr. Vinod Gupta Senior Scientist & Head KVK Samba, Dr. Gurdev Chand, Head Division of Plant Physiology, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Senior Scientist PRSS, Samba. Dr. Bikram Singh, Dean FoA Chatha in his presidential address said that World Pulses Day provides an opportunity to raise awareness about the nutritional benefits of pulses as part of sustainable food production with the aim of enhancing food security and nutrition and recognizing the potential of pulses. Dr. Vinod Gupta, Senior Scientist & Head KVK Samba highlighted the importance of World Pulses Day and role of pulses in daily life of human being. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar elaborate to the farmers regarding brief status of pulses in UT of J&K and highlighted the importance of growing pulses in present scenario. Other speakers in the programme were Dr Gurdev Chand, Head, Head Division of Plant Physiology, Dr Brij Nandan, Senior Scientist, PRSS Samba, Dr Sanjay Khajuria, Dr Neerja Sharma and Dr Vijay Kumar, Scientists of KVK Samba. The proceedings of the programme were carried by Dr. Shalini Khajuria and farm visit was conducted by Dr. Amit Mahajan. At the end, vote of thanks was extended by Dr Saurav Gupta. |
