I struggle to feed my family, how will I pay electricity bill, says labourer | ‘PDD officials have no sympathy for poor people’ | | Early Times Report
Bandipora, Feb 18: A lone man staged a protest in Bandipora on Friday against the Power Development Department for sending him hefty electricity bills every month. Bashir Ahmed Shah of Takiya Mohalla Naidkhai appeared in the main town this afternoon and sat on the road saying that Power Department officials are not showing any empathy with him despite him being poor. “Since 2018 I have been making rounds of PDD offices from Naidkhai to Bandipora, Sumbal and other places. I approached the Executive Engineer and begged him to send someone to my house to see how much electricity I consume. But the Ex-En threw the bill on my face and told me that he is not meant for all this. If the PDD fails to resolve my issue, I will commit suicide and they should be held responsible for my death,” Shah said. He said, “I am a poor labourer and have a family to feed, will pay the electricity bill or feed my family. Do justice with me and my family. The PDD officials have no sympathy for the poor.” |
