PDD fails to help electrocuted daily wager, locals enraged

Rajouri, Feb 19: A strong protest demonstration rocker parts of Rajouri town on Saturday morning after family members and relatives of a casual labour of power development department hit the roads.
The casual labourer identified as Mohammad Saleem resident of Thudi Jawahar Nagar in Rajouri was repairing High tension power wires in lower Jawahar Nagar on January 24 p when he received strong electric shock and suffered severe burn injuries.
The casual labour is still under treatment in a hospital outside Jammu and Kashmir with both his upper limbs have been amputated.
The protesting family members said that the said official is under treatment in hospital since long but no much help has been provided by the Government and entire expenditure of the treatment has been beared by family members so far.
The protesters blocked Jawahar Nagar to Khandli bridge road of Rajouri town and stalled movement of traffic.
They also raised slogans against government for leaving the casual labourers, daily wagers and need base workers of power development department and accused the government for leaving the lives of daily wagers of power department on God's mercy.
DDC Chairman Rajouri, Naseem Liaqit also joined the protest and assured that the matter has been taken up with higher authorities for necessary redrrssal.
PDP District President Tazeem Dar on this occasion demanded Jammu and Kashmir government to come up with an immediate policy for helping all the daily wagers besides helping the victim Mohammad Saleem.
Social activist Sheraz Malik said that people from all communities have joined this protest in favour of victim which shows that that issue is of humanity.
He pressed for immediate justice with victim and his family.
Later, Tehsildar Rajouri Mehmood Khan and Station House Officer Rajouri Mohd Fareed reached on the spot and pacified the protest after which a delegation of protesters has been taken to meet with district administration.
