Govt fails to create facilities for tourists at Gharana wetland
Wetland has no road, boards to identify bird species, bird guides
3/5/2022 11:58:06 PM
Early Times Report

R S Pura, Mar 5: Gharana wetland in R S Pura has no proper road connectivity, not boards to identify the bird species that reach there and no bird guide, who could help visitors understand why this wetland is so important.
The person who wants to visit the wetland has to wade through the lanes to reach there. And after arriving at the wetland he has to look for a space from where he can watch the birds.
“Usually people watch birds through binoculars and the ones who have no knowledge about the species and can’t make out the difference between the local birds and migratory birds,” said a birdwatcher.
He said, “If one wants to reach the other side of the wetland he has to pass through the fields and the government till date has done nothing to develop this wetland into a tourist spot.”
According to locals about 1700 kanals of their land is on the other side of the fencing erected by the Wildlife Department with no passage to reach there due to which they are unable to cultivate their fields.
It’s in place to mention here that the government had announced that the Gharana village will be developed for tourism purposes to promote tourism in Suchetgarh.
“For promoting tourism the government needs to preserve the Gharana wetland and turn it into a place which will be visited by tourists.
A proper road needs to be built, and awareness about the bird species which arrive in this wetland from far-off places like Siberia needs to be created.
And very importantly bird guides need to be appointed,” said a visitor.
