Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 24: Sub-Judge Katra Manoj Parihar today awarded two years imprisonment to Pawan Kumar who was facing trial in murder and rape case and escaped from the police custody during remand. On 29-2-2016, duty officer Mohammad Sharif ASI said that accused Pawan Kumar, who was involved in offence U/s 376, 363, 302, RPC in F.I.R no. 16/2016, was on police remand by the order of court till 4-3-2016, because of negligence of the police employees, has succeeded in running away from the custody. The case got registered in offence U/s 223/224 RPC. Sub-Judge Katra observed that the ingredients of offence u/s 224 RPC i.e. the accused intentionally escaped from the custody in which he was lawfully detained for the case FIR 16/2016 in offence U/s 302/376/363 RPC, is proved against him. To the extent of proving the offence U/s 224 RPC, the prosecution has discharged their onus by bringing accused into books. Thus, in light of the above findings, accused is convicted in offence U/s 224 RPC and sentenced to undergo simple imprisonment of two years in district jail, Udhampur. |
