Protesters including teachers and other employees led by Dr Shashi Pal Singh raised slogans against the government and also took out a protest march. Demanding restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in favour of all teachers and employees appointed after 01.01.2010, the protesters sought from the government to scrap the New Pension Scheme. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shashi Pal Singh said that NPS was a great injustice to the employees as well as their families as it does not guarantee a minimum pension to retirees. USTA District Kathua President Rattan Singh Pathania demanded that salaries in lieu of grants being issued to Mid-Day Meal workers and Safai Karamcharis working in the School Education Department should be scrapped while he also sought enhanced wages for Anganwari and Asha Workers. Among others USTA District Kathua Secretary Bodh Raj, Vinayak Sharma, Ram Dass, Sudesh Kumar and Vijay Kumar also addressed the protesting teachers and employees. |
