Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Mar 31: A unique three-headed Vishnu sculpture was recovered in Kashmir's Pulwama district on Wednesday, officials said. Deputy Director of Archives, Archaeology and Museums Kashmir, Mushtaq Ahmad Beigh said the sculpture was recovered from river Jhelum. "The unique sculpture was found during the extraction of sand from Jhelum at Kakapora by some labourers, who handed it over to the Police," he added. Beigh said after completing legal formalities, the sculpture was handed over to the Deputy Director of Archives, Archaeology and Museums Kashmir. The finely-carved, well-dressed and polished sculpture demonstrates clearly the sculptural style in use at Avantipora during the 9th century AD, he added, stating that it has been placed in SPS Museum, Srinagar for further studies. |
