Road leading to 16 villages in shambles | | | Early Times Report
Shopian, Apr 4: The dilapidated condition of the road from Moshwara to Gatipura in south Kashmir’s Shopian district has put a question mark on the tall claims of development. According to the residents, public transporters are hesitant to ply their vehicles on the road due to these getting damaged. “This road has become accident prone. The Road and Building Department is deliberately ignoring this area. Dozens of villages are connected with this road and people get access to other areas because of this road. But due to the dilapidated condition of the road all of us are facing severe difficulties,” they said. “We have repeatedly informed the authorities about the maintenance of the road and requested them to take steps to repair this road but authorities are not paying any attention,” they said. Residents appealed to the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, to intervene and direct the concerned department to get this road repaired at the earliest. BJP General Secretary Muhammad Yousuf Butt also urged the district administration Shopian to start the work of laying tar coal on Moshwara Gatipura Road as soon as possible so that the poor people of at least 16 villages get some relief. |
