J&K spends 80% of its revenue expenditure on salaries, pensions etc: CAG Report | Amdani Athani, Kharcha Rupiya! | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 13: The report of Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has pointed out that Jammu and Kashmir spends around 80% of its revenue expenditure on the salaries and pensions of its employees. The CAG report has revealed that J&K Government spends around Rs 22719 crore on salaries, pensions and other expenses needed to run the affairs of the administration. The report has pointed out only 20% is spent on capital expenditure i.e. to build infrastructure and other facilities for a common man. It has stated that the J&K in the year 2019-20 fell short of 40% of the estimated revenue that it expected to collect through taxes. “The findings of the CAG report clearly indicate that J&K is heavily dependent on the central funding to run its official machinery. In coming days the J&K administration intends to employ more people and regularize around 60,000 daily wagers but where will the revenue come from to meet these expenses is a million dollar question which helmsmen need to answer,” said an analyst. |
