AAP, Cong doing 'appeasement politics': BJP | | | agencies NEW DELHI, May 9: The BJP on Monday accused the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Congress of doing ''appeasement politics'' over anti-encroachment drive in Shaheen Bagh area here. "AAP and Congress are doing 'appeasement politics'. Opposition remains mum when riots take place, but they call it 'communal' when action is taken against the rioters." Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta said at a press conference here, amid the ongoing anti-encroachment drive in Shaheen Bagh. Slamming AAP and Congress leaders who took to the streets of Shaheen Bagh, Gupta said, "Today, the leaders of Opposition lay on the road to save the illegal Bangladeshi-Rohingya settlements in Shaheen Bagh, the public will teach them a lesson." "Illegal immigrants are coming here to spread terror. It is unfortunate that AAP and Congress are supporting them,'' he said. The anti-encroachment drive in Shaheen Bagh area is being carried out by the South Delhi Municipal Corporation, amid resistance of local residents. Meanwhile, Congress refuted the BJP's allegations, President of Delhi Congress unit Ch. Anil Kumar, told UNI that it is very "shamful" for BJP who has been ruling MCD for the last 15 years and did not stop encroachment on government land. It was BJP-rule MCD's responsibility to stop encroachment but it failed to perform it's responsibility. Now BJP is "playing politics" on it. "BJP playing politics by pick and choose policy on demolition these days," Kumar added. "Congress is not doing appesement politics, we are with poor people," he said. Kumar alleged that BJP is trying to divert people's focus from real issues like new excise policy, price rise and unemployment. BJP is only doing politics by "bulldozer". |
