Woman dies after a roof tin sheet falls on her

Srinagar, May 9: A 34-year old woman died on Monday after a tin sheet of a roof fell on her in Anantnag.
The tin sheet was carried away by gusty winds that swept from North to South Kashmir destroying houses and uprooting trees today.
Reports said that Meenu Jan, wife of Khursheed Ahmad Gareeb of Batengoo in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district suffered serious injuries after a tin sheet fell on her due to strong gusty winds near Habkhatoon petrol pump.
Meenu was shifted to Government Medical College Anantnag where she succumbed to her injuries, sources said.
Massive wind storm created panic in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district after two huge branches of poplar Tree fell on Nehalpora Pattan road damaging two vehicles.
However, no one was injured.
Sources said that gusty winds lashed most parts of the Kashmir valley including Sopore, Baramulla, Bandipora and Anantnag damaging houses and uprooting trees causing damage to the property.
A report from Apple township of Sopore said that speedy winds damaged roofs of several buildings.
Massive windstorm coupled with rains swept parts of north Kashmir blowing away roofs of several residential, commercial structures and uprooting trees.
Kashmir weather reports said that a massive hailstorm occurred in parts of Srinagar, Pulwama, Anantnag, Pahalgam, Budgam and Bandipora districts.
The wind system is heading towards south Kashmir now.
It said that the possibility of heavy showers, hailstorm and gusty winds are very likely in the parts of south Kashmir and will gradually clear tonight.
Weather turned unpleasant suddenly with fast winds in Srinagar, the summer capital of Kashmir this afternoon coupled with rains disrupting normal life.
