Rainwater Harvesting System inaugurated in SPMR College of Commerce | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 9: Following the government's campaign "Jal Shakti Abhiyaan- Catch the Rain", an initiative was taken by the Eco Club and Department of Environmental Sciences, Govt SPMR College of Commerce to install a rainwater harvesting system in the college. A simple roof rainwater harvesting system was set up in the college under the guidance of Prof. Ranjeet Singh Jamwal, Principal of the college. While inaugurating he appreciated the efforts of the Department of Environmental Sciences and Eco Club members for taking this initiative in the college and proposed the installation of an advanced version of rainwater harvesting system in future for more collection of rainwater. For this an elaborate underground structure will be constructed in the college campus very soon. The syntax tank used for the storage of water was donated by Pankaj Gupta on the occasion of World Water Day-2022. The complete set up was assembled by Kewal Kundal, plumber of the college. Prof. Shafkat Jehangir from the Department of English facilitated the whole process. Dr. Deepak Pathania, Convener of the Eco Club explained the entire process of the rain water harvesting system. She briefed that rainwater from the terrace would be collected through a pipeline fitted with the system and stored in the tank for future use. Manmeet Singh and Maheeppal Singh along with other volunteers of Eco Club helped in the installation process. Faculty members present during the inauguration were Prof. Barbara Koul, Prof. Archana Kaul, Prof Sandhya Bharadwaj, Prof. Reeta Meenia, Dr. Jaswinder Singh. The entire event was coordinated by Eco club members Dr. Jagmeet Kaur, Dr. Sarabjeet Kour Sudan, Prof. Fayza and Prof. Rishu Mahajan. The formal vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Anu Sharma. |
