Early Times Report UDHAMPUR, May 11: Two-day long course on 'Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)' which commenced yesterday, concluded today at Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur. As many as 13 officers from various units/wings of J&K Police participated in the training programme. There were wide range of deliberations on Intellectual Property Rights patents and trademarks, Case studies of Biotechnology and case studies of patents in other areas, Legal framework for enforcement and role of police, Counterfeiting and Piracy in physical and digital world etc. Eminent speakers including Dr. Savita Nayyar, Deptt of Law, University of Jammu, Kamal Sharma, CPO CID Hqrs, Anuja Khushu, senior journalist and Advocate Megha Choudhary, Ph.D scholar, Jammu University delivered lectures and shared their valuable experience. A valediction function was organized in the Academy. During his valedictory address, Vinay Kumar, SSP, Dy Director (Admn) SKPA raised serious concerns on the nexus between violation of IPRs and other organized crimes like terror funding etc., which causes a serious threat to public safety and security of the country. He also emphasized on the need for equipping police officer with appropriate knowledge and training. The course was coordinated by Sunmati Gupta, DySP, Asstt Director (Q) and Shankar Bhadure, DySP. |
