JAMMU, May 11: A division bench comprising Justice Dhiraj Singh Thakur and Justice Rahul Bharti directed Commissioner/Secretary Health to file affidavit regarding non-functional of Genetic Counselling Centre. As the PIL came-up for hearing, DB observed that response has been filed by Director Health Services, Jammu.
The DB observed that reply from the Commissioner/Secretary, Health Department, is necessary in the matter with a view to deal comprehensively with the issues that have been raised in the writ petition and the timeline within which the genetic counselling centres, genetic clinic, genetic laboratories etc need to be established.
During the course of hearing Advocate Navneet Dubey stated that according to the response filed by the Director, Health Services, Jammu, wherein it has been asserted that one genetic counselling centre has been established in the SMGS Hospital, Jammu, which has since been closed/is non-functional on account of the fact that the concerned Doctor Arshad Bhat, who was in-charge of the said centre has since been transferred.
The DB directed that the affidavit to be filed by the Commissioner/Secretary, Health Department shall also address this particular aspect highlighted by the counsel for the petitioner. |
