Early Times Report REASI, May 17: In connection with Fit India Movement and to promote communal harmony, sportsmanship and provide youth a platform to showcase their talent, Indian Army organised Pir Panjal Kabaddi League 2022 here at Zorawar Sports Stadium, Reasi. Around 15 teams from different districts of J&K participated in the event. Final match was played between the teams of Mendhar and Doda in which the team of Mendhar emerged as the champion of the tournament. The players were felicitated by the Army with cash prize, medals, trophy and certificates by J&K Sports Council. Several dignitaries of Army and civil administration including General Officer Commanding (GOC) White Knight Corps and GOC Counter Insurgency Force, Romeo, Nuzhat Gul; DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, Mohammad Suleman Choudhary; Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Babila Rakwal; Secretary J&K Sports Council, were present. The event also witnessed the unveiling of the Annual Sports Calendar, jointly prepared by the Indian Army and J&K Sports Council. GOC White Knight Corps, while addressing the gathering appreciated the participants and exhorted the students, youth and local populace to come forward and imbibe sports as integral part of their life. He concluded his address by retreating on the endeavours undertaken by Indian army to organise various sports events which will assist in positively engaging the young populace and provide them platform to showcase their talent and earn laurels for J&K by participating in National and International Championships. |
