JMC passes resolution to ban loud speakers at religious places | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, May 21: A resolution to remove illegal loudspeakers has been passed by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in Jammu & Kashmir with immediate effect. The workers of Dogra Front and Shiv Sena under the leadership of President Ashok Gupta took out a protest rally in Jammu city demanding immediate implementation of the resolution passed by the JMC. Gupta said that JMC has done the right thing in passing the resolution. It is not for a particular community or a religion, it is passed for every citizen of Jammu and Kashmir. Why are loudspeakers in mosques played at such high volume? If this is not stopped, there will be speakers outside mosques playing Hanuman Chalisa at higher volume, he said. "The order also says that loudspeakers should not be used in the silent zones such as schools and hospitals but that order is being violated by the mosque managements. We will play Bhajan every morning if the loudspeakers from mosques are not removed," he said. The students resorted to chanting of 'Hanuman Chalisa' after the authorities failed to stop the use of loudspeaker at the mosque. |
